About the Event
A powerful effort to suppress the voting of people of color [BIPOC - Black, Indigenous, other People of Color] is under way in this country. According to the Brennan Center for Justice, 18 states have enacted 30 laws that would make it harder to vote or would enable state legislatures to overrule the results of elections. Jane Mayer has documented how a network of wealthy individuals and organizations have funded and guided these efforts.
The success of these efforts would undermine every effort to evolve our society so that it ensures the wellbeing of every person.
For this reason, we have scheduled a Values to Action Café to discuss this threat to democracy.
We invite you to read Mayer’s article, which is linked to above, and to participate in a discussion that explores whether and how Values to Action could contribute to preventing voter suppression.
This event is open to everyone, but we would appreciate your joining or donating to Values to Action to support its efforts.
